Why session timing matters

The forex market runs 24 hours a day for five days a week, but the money does not arrive evenly. Liquidity follows the business day around the globe: Sydney, then Tokyo, then London, then New York. Gold and the major pairs make most of their clean directional moves during London and the London–New York overlap.

Working out session times yourself

Pakistan is UTC+5 with no daylight saving, so converting is simple arithmetic: PKT = UTC + 5. London opens at 07:00 UTC in winter, which is 12:00 noon in Pakistan; New York opens at 12:00 UTC, which is 5:00 PM PKT. During European and US daylight saving those two shift one hour earlier in UTC terms, so verify against your platform clock a few times a year.

The windows that matter for gold

• Asian session (approx. 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM PKT) — usually a range. Many traders mark its high and low and trade the break of it later.
• London open (approx. 12:00 PM PKT) — volume arrives and the day's direction often begins.
• London–New York overlap (approx. 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM PKT) — the highest-volume window of the day and where most XAUUSD expansion happens.
• Late New York (after 10:00 PM PKT) — thinning liquidity, wider spreads, more false moves.

Trading a quiet session with a strategy built for volatility is a common beginner mistake. Pick the window that suits your schedule and study only that window until you know its behaviour. Education only — trading forex and gold carries a high risk of loss.
