HOW TO OPEN A FOREX ACCOUNT — STEP BY STEP
Verification, demo first, safe deposits and the small-withdrawal test every beginner should run.
Opening a forex and gold trading account takes about fifteen minutes. Doing it safely takes a little longer, because the order matters: choose the broker, verify, practise on demo, deposit small, and test a withdrawal before you ever fund the account properly.
Disclosure: the broker links on this page are partner links. If you open an account through them we may receive a commission from the broker at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we write — both brokers below get their real pros and cons.
Step 1 — Choose the broker
Compare on regulation, gold spread, withdrawal speed and support, not on bonuses. Our broker guide covers this properly. Most traders here use either Exness or XM.
Step 2 — Register and verify
Have these ready before you start, and the process usually completes the same day:
- CNIC or passport (clear photo, all corners visible).
- A proof of address dated within the last few months — a utility bill or bank statement.
- A phone number and email you actually control, for two-factor authentication.
Use your real details exactly as they appear on your ID. Mismatches are the number one cause of withdrawal delays later.
Step 3 — Demo first, always
Open a demo with the same balance you plan to fund, not $100,000. Trade your plan for two to four weeks. If you cannot follow a plan on demo, real money will not improve your discipline.
Step 4 — Deposit small
- Deposit only what you can lose entirely without it affecting your life.
- Use a payment method in your own name — third-party deposits get frozen.
- Decline bonuses unless you have read and accepted the volume conditions.
- Set leverage well below the maximum.
Step 5 — The withdrawal test
Step 6 — Trade at a size that cannot hurt you
Start at 0.01 lots. On gold, that means a $1.00 move — 10 pips — is roughly $1.00 to your account, so a hundred wrong decisions still leave you in the game. Work out every position with the lot size calculator and check the money value first with the profit and loss calculator.
Mistakes that cost beginners their first account
- Depositing everything at once because a bonus expires.
- Using maximum leverage "because it is available".
- Skipping demo entirely.
- Trusting anyone who offers to manage the account for a share of profits.
Once the account is open, join the free trading community and register for the free 21-day bootcamp so the account has a process behind it.
Trading forex and gold carries a high risk of loss. Nothing here is investment advice, and no broker can make a losing strategy profitable. Choose a broker for safety and cost, then spend your energy on the skill.
